Dr. D.K.Hari and Dr. D.K.Hema Hari of Bharath Gyan will be once again conducting one of their courses in their popular course - Exploring Bharatam series under the aegis of the Hindu University of America (HUA).

This course is open to all, across the globe.

Coming in this series of courses, this course, titled “Exploring Bharata Cosmology and Calendar”, will take the explorer on a travel into the whorls of Space, to the very depths of Time in order to see the fundamentals that have gone to make up the Timekeeping tradition of Bharatam.

Why and where does the Bharata Calendar differ from the worldwide, commonly followed Gregorian Calendar?

This course will also examine whether the Bharata calendar is scientific and if so, how does it bear relevance to modern world?

It will also throw more light on how celebrations and traditions of Bharatam are in sync with Nature and break the myths that have dubbed them superstitious and belief based.

WHO CAN REGISTER FOR THE COURSE?:
This course is part of a Certificate Program of the University and 12 credits will be awarded on successful completion of the program. Click here to know more about the Credits and the 8 quarters / 2 year Certificate Program in Bharata Civilizational Studies of which this course is a part.

It can also be taken as a standalone course, in which case, participants will get a Course Completion document with course grade at the end of this course.

Being a credit course, this course can be taken by students to satisfy their academic goals.

For those in active professions, this course will open their minds to a larger perspective of how this civilizational thought had successfully straddled and blended Science, Spirituality, Philosophy, Religion, Industry, Economics, Management, Art and Culture into Family, Professional and Social Life.

It can also be taken by both teenagers, parents and grand parents, together or separately to explore the spirit of Bharatam with an intent to stimulate meaningful conversation about Bharat between teenagers and their parents.

This series of courses is designed to take discussion and contemplation from beyond the course window, into the portals of home, family and society.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
In this course, students will

  1. Discover the timeless tradition of Timekeeping of Bharatam
  2. Learn of the immense grasp of Cosmology by the Bharata civilization
  3. Learn of Bharata timekeeping terms such as Yuga etc.
  4. Understand Bharata Calendars
  5. Realize why Bharata events occur on different dates each year as compared to the Gregorian Calendar
  6. Understand how this method of Timekeeeping is highly scientific and is the need of the hour for the future.

COURSE DESIGN AND CLASS STRUCTURE

The Course has been designed as 10 online sessions of 100 minutes each that go to build up the picture successively.

Course will be covered with 1 online session per week.
