Course Description:

This course is intended to open the minds of the participant to the various touchpoints that humans have, with all that exist as part of one’s surroundings in the form of Nature, Family, Society, Nation, World, Earth, Cosmos and Universal Consciousness.

In this course, these touchpoints have been grouped into 6 fundamental types of connects.

Each type of connect will be explored from an Indian perspective to see how this ancient, long living, successful, surviving and continuing civilization had

  • Grasped these connects
  • Valued these connects
  • Nurtured these connects and
  • Celebrated these connects

inorder to keep them alive, so that they in turn, can keep each one alive.

Unit 1 – The Flora Connect – Vande Vrindavanam

This unit will showcase and explore the attitude of the Indian civilization towards plants, trees and all forms of vegetation.

Unit 2 – The Fauna Connect – Vishesha Vahanam

This unit will showcase and explore the attitude of the Indian civilization towards all creatures great and small.

In particular, we will see how the concept of Vahana and Animals associated with various Divinities in the Indian pantheon, ranging from mouse, to snake, to peacock, to eagle, to buffalo, to bull, to cow, to lion and finally to Yeti, to Yali, showcase the intertwined relationship between various animals, the divine forces of Nature and mankind, who is also part of the animal kingdom.

We will see how the Indian civilization had therefore related with the different animals

  • From those that form Prey, to those to Pray
  • for their role in sustaining Nature
  • for symbolically conveying a larger perspective through their form and behaviour.

Unit 3 - The Earth Connect – Go Mata

In this Unit one will see the place accorded to Earth in Indian thought and the various ways in which people in India connected with Earth, such as

  • through the various names of Earth such as Bhu, Prthvi, Dharti, Vishwa, Jagat, Go etc. to distinguish the various aspects of the planet as well as the various characteristic features and resources on Earth, especially the land of Bharata
  • through the various legends and sloka meant to teach how man has to maintain his relationship with Earth
  • through various acts that showed their regards for Earth
  • through their sentiment of seeing Earth as a Mother.

It will essentially make the participant ready to Go on a journey to see the Mother in every inch of land.

Unit 4 - The National Connect – Desh Sandesh Of Atmanirbharta

After seeing the wider scope of Prthvi, the Earth, this Unit will prepare the participant for focussing on one’s own mother land, namely one’s Desh.

How this love has given rise to Veerya and Shaurya in the hearts of the many children of this Motherland.

We shall look at the National heroes from across the length and breadth of this land, across the times, who have safeguarded this civilization and its culture and handed it down to us to secure it for the generations to come.

It is to see and celebrate the message of bonds.

This Unit is intended to also set the participant on a progressive journey towards Atmanirbharta, self-reliance, self-sufficiency and self-contained.

Unit 5 – Seeing Sree In Stree - Stree Shakti

This Unit will showcase and educate the participant on how the spirit of Sree and Stree pervades through all existence and how the Indian civilization had revered it all the way from

It will establish how, in the Indian thought, women form the Central pillar of a civilization and hence the complementing equation between genders according to Indian thought.

Unit 6 - The Venerable Quad – Chatur Vidya

This Unit is all about those who open the eyes of every individual to these various touchpoints around them.

The Guiding Sprits - It is about the 4 leading spirits in every individual’s life from the moment of birth.

  1. Mata (mother)
  2. Pita (father)
  3. Guru (teacher)
  4. Daivam (Divine).

The Guiding Framework - It is about the education they have all imparted on the 4 aspects to every act performed.

  1. Kama – desire to do an act
  2. Artha – equipping oneself with resources to perform the act
  3. Dharma – ascertaining, adhering and aligning with the right principles right from desiring to act, to equipping oneself and to performing the act
  4. Moksha – conditioning oneself to stay detached from the act so as to be liberated from the desires and effects of the consequences.

The Guiding Cornerstones - It is about the 4 corner stones for daily life as per Indian thought.

After encountering the various touchpoints, the participant is now on the path to understand what culture, Kalachar really stands for and what it means in the eyes of a Bharatiya.

Course Learning Objectives:

This course has been designed for Indians to reconnect back with their Civilization by exploring the various different touch points for connecting with everything around them.

It will help participants form a cultural connect with one’s own self as well as with all and everything around - the animate and inanimate.

Such an exposure to one’s cultural connect is expected to fill the participant with an inner sense of rooting, identity as well as clarity in day to day living and life as a whole.
